Actually I don't mind the look of the Marantz. The first version of the Edirol R09 had it's faults, but never let me down. The battery issue you mentioned was actually a lack of memory issue. I forgot to wipe the card before the session, and since I usually record in the WAV format, storage was limited on the 1GB card I was using. Generally though, battery life has been an issue. I've order the new version, so we'll see how that goes.
